Bruce Family Dental, formerly known as Arthur L. Bruce, D.M.D. and Associates, has been providing dental care to Pendleton and surrounding areas since 1977. As you can imagine, dentistry has changed greatly in the past 43 years so we wanted to take you on a ride through our history as a practice.
After graduating from MUSC in 1977, Dr. Arthur (“Art”) Bruce started his first dental practice just down the street from his current office on S. Mechanic Street. Dr. Bruce’s first day of work in his office was December 30, 1977. Dr. Bruce started with just one office receptionist, no hygienists and no dental assistants. It did not take long for the practice to grow, as Pendleton was deemed by the State of South Carolina as an area of need for dental care at that time.

Dr. Bruce and his staff began growing out of his former office space, so in January 2005, the practice was relocated right down the street to its current location on S. Mechanic St. for a much bigger and open space with room to grow.
Dr. Bruce’s son, Dr. Jay Bruce, joined his father as an associate after finishing dental school in 2009 . He worked as an associate for 11 years before taking over ownership of the practice. The practice is now known as Bruce Family Dental. Along with the 2 doctors, they now have 3 hygienists, 3 dental assistants and 2 administrative assistants!
Dr. Jay and Dr. Art are committed to continuing to serve the dental needs of patients in Pendleton and the surrounding areas for many years to come!
